slingderbyLifting Operations on construction sites involve the use of cranes and lifting components.  Materials from steel and concrete panels through to roofing/decking and timber need to be "lifted" to the work place and it is therefore critical that individuals involved in this task are competent.   This can be evidenced by a CPCS card and this is only available through achievement of a NVQ/SVQ.  A four day foundation course available through Shire4Education provides the underpinning knowledge an individual will need to achieve the standards required of the NVQ.

Who should attend?

Those who wish to learn how to carry out lifting operations.  Candidates will learn about safety in the construction industry and gain a knowledge of the duties of care to themselves and others who maybe affected by their work.  They will know how to ensure machinery and associated equipment is fit for purpose &  properly chainsinspectmaintained.  Note: Current holders of a RED trained operator card will need to achieve the NVQ level2 (QUB782) in order to obtain a Blue CPCS Competent Operator Card - Slinger Signaller Load Securer.  Experienced Workers card holders will need to complete the NVQ followed by a CPCS "end test" to qualify for the Blue CPCS Competent Operator Card - Slinger Signaller Load Securer.

How long does it last?

Two days are spent in the classroom, one day on site and one day carrying out the practical and theory test.  Each day starts at 0830hrs and normally concludes around 1630hrs.

How many candidates are allowed on each course?

Numbers are limited to four candidates per course.

What’s the end result of the course?

Candidates will receive a red Trainee CPCS card (valid for 2 years) and logbook.  Upon successful completion of the test, candidates will have sufficient knowledge to operate safely under supervision. When sufficient experience (validated by the log book) has been gained they may register for a level 2 NVQ.
